Hosts Application Process
Hello!

Thank you for your interest in becoming a homestay host family with Canada Homestay International. The stages of the Application Process are as follows:

1. Application
Please complete the Online Host Application, by clicking the link.

If you are unable to complete the Online Host Application , please print the application form, complete it and return it to our local office. (This is a pdf document, so you will need Adobe Acrobat Reader if you are running Windows).

Mailing addresses and Fax Numbers:

For the Greater Toronto Area or other parts of Ontario (excluding Ottawa):
13 Binscarth Rd
Toronto, ON M4W 1Y2
FAX: 416 926 3730

For Ottawa or the Capital Region and Montreal:
573 Cole Avenue
Ottawa, ON K2A 2B4
FAX: 613 693 0878

For all points west (BC and Alberta):
1031 St. David Street
Victoria, BC V8S 4Y7
FAX: 1 866 844 9062

2. Interview

After we have reviewed your application, we may contact you to arrange an interview. If you are contacted, please visit our Documents and Forms page for more information.

Not all hosts are contacted for an interview. Selection is made primarily based on current demand for host families, and may also include criteria such as proximity to a particular school.

All information provided on the application and during the interview is protected by Canada's Protection of Personal Information Act. Our policies are available on our website or by written request.

3. Next Steps

Please note, all our host families must obtain a criminal records check for all members of the household over the age of 16. This must be done by your local municipal police station or RCMP. You may be required to pay a fee (which varies by community, but can be up to $50 per person) for this documentation. Note: if you work for an organization that has obtained a criminal records check on your behalf (such as a school or hospital), a letter from your supervisor to that effect will suffice: as long as it is still current (within the last 2 years).

We will also request contact information for two references for your family.

4. Registration

Once we have received all of your documentation, your application is considered complete and your family is registered and 'active' in our database. We will include you in our searches when we receive student applications.

You may not be contacted immediately. Our Relationship Managers do their best to match students with host families that are most suitable according to their (and your!) individual requests. Please recognise that we use many criteria when making these matches. Our volume of student applications also fluctuate throughout the year, and we notice that our peak season is usually in the summer months.

Having said that, we are always happy to hear from you and hope that you will update us periodically with your availability and interest in hosting. We also endeavour to stay in touch with our hosts through our newsletter and annual social events.

Thanks again and don't hesitate to call if you have any questions.

SWe are available by phone. Call Us! Toll Free: 1 877 441 4443; Or see our Contacts page to find the Relationship Manager in your community.
